The London 2012 Olympic Summer Games are just around the corner and there’s no better way to show off the craftsmanship of the British than through their very own New Balance. This isn’t your ordinary running shoe though. The New Balance 576 The Road To London Limited Edition was hand-made with pride by craftsmen and women in the Flimby factory in England, UK. This time around, Clavel Magazine’s Kevin Cabanban decided to do a Cebu-special issue and partnered up with us to do the shoot.

Everything and everyone had to be Cebuano and so we got renowned photographer Erwin Lim and his sidekick Dwight Lu to work their magic for us. Not only that, we shot in world-famous Kenneth Cobonpue’s showroom & studio and added more value to this already well-followed magazine. We also shot a few pieces of the #RhipstopLadies line that’s coming up.

Oh and what you see there is the only pair in the Philippines and there’s the certificate to prove it.

Growing up, my father always said, “Do not wait for tomorrow what you can do today.” That single quote has guided me in everything, that even Rhipstop’s work ethic is built on the same quote. As a growing brand, we’ve learnt to delegate the different kinds of work to the individuals that make up who we are. When it comes to meetings with our partners, that’s my job. When it comes to making things happen, that’s everyone’s passion. Since most head offices are in Manila, I had to take a trip for a few days since we wanted things faster & more efficient in the long run.

First on the list was to meet up with the boys from Ronac Art Center & to check our operations at Secret Service. Later on we met with Kevin Cabanban of Clavel Magazine / Progress at Charlies’ ( the best burger place to date ) to creatively plan out how we can slowly bridge the gaps between Cebu and Manila, having realized that if we both just worked together, the street wear/lifestyle industry would be so much better.

After the burgers & beers, we moved right beside to the sickest Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf I have ever seen. Makes you wonder why other kiosks can’t look as dynamic as this one. It’s amazing how Ronac Art Center really lives up to its name as being the design/art capital of the area. A lot of the great minds find this place their conference room. Truth be told, there’s a lot of work to be done but hey, that’s what drives all of us right? Looking ahead, always be inspired and remember, don’t wait for tomorrow what you can do today.

For those of you who don’t know, this is why it’s called the Half Cab.

Truth be told, Sinulog 2012 put us on the map and it’s been a very busy work season since then. Our brand is growing and the team has been pushing more than they usually do. We’re happy to say that our skateboarding division has been on full speed ever since we bought into One Skatepark, a mobile skatepark system ( www.oneskatepark.com ). Our recent event, Summer XS 2012 held at the J Centre last March 30 to April 1 was so successful that it led us into a very interesting on-going partnership with Vans Philippines. Our COO, Kurt Ebarita, thought it would be a perfect idea to finally make our first full length skate / semi-documentary video about the company and what were really about. He titled it, “THE BOLT”, representing the new logo that we took on last year as our flag.

And so yesterday we decided to head up to a coffee shop to map out the first steps into making the video. Everything from what we needed, who to film, our sponsors, etc.! Looks like this is going to be one busy summer!

MYX, the no.1 video music channel in the Philippines, flew down to Cebu for a weekend to film for their new show called URBAN MYX – produced by renowned videographer and producer Boom Dayupay and his wife, Angel. Urban Myx actually covers a wide diversity of what actually makes up the urban culture fabric and god, were we glad to be one of the main segments of the show.

It was a bright sunny Sunday and together with our friends from One Skatepark ( Cebu ), we created this skatepark scene at the old campus of SHS-J ( now Ateneo de Cebu ) and we were able to get the influential people to come and be a part of this special feature on the brand. Even our skateboard team brought their really good skaters and they are of no doubt the best skateboarders we’ve ever seen in this city. 360 flip – 50/50 grind, 360-FS board slides, you name it, we saw it.
